Happy new year!

Happy new year, friends! :D

2009 is finally here, but so far not much is known about it. What will come? What is it we are waiting so for? Hopefully it’s something good (like the new Eureka Seven movie), but without a doubt there will come disappointments as well (like the Hollywood Dragonball movie). I will keep on blogging and hope you will continue following it because, let’s face it, without you readers I won’t be able to carry on! Anyway, enough of this, I’ve got some other stuff to do (I wanted this day off… T_T). See you later!

FUNimation grabs Gungrave

Yet another series FUNimation takes from Geneon is Gungrave ^ANN, a series I’ve been interested in for quite a while! I understand it’s about a man named Brandon Heat who is out for revenge on some crime syndicate. Ah, I will just have to check it out when it comes! Anyway, the whole series will be released by FUNimation in 2009.

Eyeshield 21 on Crunchyroll

Richirou Inagaki’s and Yusuke Marate’s football manga Eyeshield 21’s ^ANN anime adaption will, from January 2 and forward, be available for legal view at Crunchyroll. If Crunchyroll continues to add great anime shows at this speed for at least one month longer, I will absolutely get the special “Anime Membership” that costs a few bucks a month and lets you watch anime legally as they are on TV in Japan with subs, for those who wants or needs it, in really high quality – even though it’s online streaming!

Kaede Newtown and Yonna in the Solitary Fortress on Crunchyroll

CoMix Wave Films’ Kaede Newtown and Yonna in the Solitary Fortress shorts will be streamed for free and available for download (for keeps!) to paying members at Crunchyroll. Kaede Newtown premiered yesterday at 5 o’clock and Yonna in the Solitary Fortress will premiere in January.

One-shot sequel to High School Debut

The latest issue of the Shueisha magazine Deluxe Margaret announced that a one-shot sequel to High School Debut ^ANN will be in the next issue of the magazine (ships on the 28th of January). The one-shot manga Enkoi Debut (Eternal Love Debut) be drawn by Kazune Kawahara, the original author of High School Debut.

It’s finally here!

As mentioned earlier, I placed an import order on beNippon.com for some Japanese products, and guess what a woman working at the post office delivered to my door? That’s right (unless you just said something else than the obvious answer), the package with my imports! I wonder if she brought the package right home since we live in the same apartment building and she noticed the package was addressed to someone at her address, because we have never gotten any deliveries delivered right to our door before. Anyway, since I have no digital camera of my own, I had to take all pictures of package and its insides, so prepare yourself for some low-quality pictures. I hope you can at least see what the pictures are of. Why are there so many watermarks? Well, I wanted the watermarks to be at the same location on all the pictures so I spent (or should I say wasted?) a long time trying to find a free online service that would let me do so since Photoshop wouldn’t and the service I finally ended up using had to ruin the picture even more. Well, try to enjoy the pictures anyway!

I was really psyched and ecstatic when I received the package at the door and I almost started dancing. (Hey, you there, wait… GIVE ME THAT CAMERA!!) I have also ordered something else from beNippon.com that I hope will come soon, and I hope the happiness when that package arrives won’t be any lesser than what I experience today.

Ultimo serialized in Jump SQ next year

The manga Karakuridouji Ultimo by Hiroyuki Takei, author of Shaman King ^ANN, and Stan Lee, co-creator of several Marvel comics such as Spider-Man and Fantastic Four, will start serializing in Jump Square in February, 2009. I don’t like comics that aren’t manga (such as the Marvel comics) and, even though Ultimo is a true manga, I was never that interested in Takei’s new work when it came out as a one-shot in Jump SQ.II in April, no matter how much I liked his previous work Shaman King; I checked it out, however, and the result made me even less interested in the manga than I was before I read through the pilot. Not a good move, Hiroyuki-san.

I’m not so into the idea of “robots” either, so often when a work includes that element I get a little sad and the series dies a bit in my mind. Cyborgs are kind of okay though, seeing as they are live people in mechanic bodies – not created beings with artificial intelligence.

FUNimation licenses The Count of Monte Cristo anime

FUNimation licenses the Gonzo anime Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo ^ANN. I suppose this anime retells the events of The Count of Monte Cristo in anime form, but I haven’t looked too much into it so I don’t really know. How many more shows will FUNimation license before they give up?

Oh! Edo Rocket licenses by FUNimation

Yet another anime licensed by the currently very active FUNimation, the anime adaption of Kazuki Nakashima’s Oh! Edo Rocket ^ANN Edo Japan comedy manga. FUNimation will release Oh! Edo Rocket sometime during 2009.

The Sword of Uruk on Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll has announced that they will stream the new The Tower of Druaga: the Sword of Uruk anime, starting 8th January together with its TV premiere for non-paying members (the anime will be available earlier than that for paying members) and since I’ve always been interested in the Druaga series I am really getting interested in Crunchyroll. Seeing as maybe all anime that airs on Japanese TV also will be available on Crunchyroll in the future it may be a great idea to just become a member, pay the extra fee and watch online – perfect timing now that my computer have become slow and can’t handle having µTorrent on in the background. Oh, and it’s not illegal! Now you don’t have to feel bad for watching your favorite anime the wrong way.

I am so going to watch the Druaga shows on Crunchyroll!

The Tower of Druaga: the Sword of Uruk will, just like its prequel The Tower of Druaga: the Aegis of Uruk, be animated by Gonzo. Did you know that the The Tower of Druaga anime shows are based on maze game by Namco from 1984 called The Tower of Druaga. Not too much of a shocker there on the name. The game has several sequels, but I don’t know if all are maze style. Frankly that doesn’t appeal to me too much, but if the animes are good enough, maybe I’ll check out the game as well. Or maybe not, I’m not sure.
