Fall 2008 anime schedule

This is mostly for my own reference so I know which of the fall 2008 series I am going to watch to the end simultaneously as I watch some of the new winter 2009 season shows, but you are free to view it as well. After deciding to watch all the 40+ shows that started airing during late 2008, I had to go and couldn’t watch anime for several months and, of course, watching all of the shows was no longer an option, but now I hope I have made my final fall 2008 anime schedule. Sorry for bothering you with this, dear readers. ^^;

OK, that was quite a few still, but I guess it’s a lot easier to keep up with than these and 30 shows more. I did not include Kannagi since I have already finished it and Vampire Knight isn’t a 2008 fall season anime, even though I have to watch it before I can watch Vampire Knight Guilty. Several of the others shows I have watched one or two episodes of before I dropped it, but those aren’t listed here because they aren’t shows I am going to watch. Hope all of these are great!

Anime Fall 2008 – Part 1

Well, techincally, maybe this shouldn’t be called part 1 seeing as I have already made reviews of Casshern Sins, Toradora!, Hyakko, Linebarrels of Iron and Chäos;HEAd; but it is the first part of my series of “new anime season fall 2008″ entries. I will with these make several, shorter reviews of the new series this season without lots of screenshots and unneccessary talk; however, a few screenshots will be added. I think.
I’ll be using a rating system of five possible stars as I always do. If the star is in-between parenthesis () it means that I’m not completely sure whether to give it, for example, three or four stars; it can also mean I want to possibly give it one more as the story progresses or that I think the series maybe doesn’t deserve that last in-parenthesis star.

Tales of the Abyss, yet another game-inspired anime – that isn’t crap. I have only seen two episodes so far (the third will have to wait for next weekend) but I can tell you already that it is going to be worthwhile watching it to the end. Unless they figure out some way to successfully ruin it and make it a fiasco, but can any man do that? I hope not. Tale of the Abyss, although I haven’t played the actual game, as a relative to my absolute favorite game through all the ages, Tales of Symphonia, was not in any way going to get by me without me having a look-see first, and now, after I’ve seen the anime, I won’t rest until I’ve played the game also! Now, where can I get my hands on the game? Is it to Playstation 2? Gah, too much to find out! :D

What can I say? It’s definitely not what I had thought when I downloaded it … It’s a chibi harem series, for crying out loud! I was hoping for a magic-school kind of anime (not a Negima! kind), but instead I got stuck with this? It was okay and it had it’s hilarious moments, but this is probably not a show I’m going to continue watching. As I’ve already told you before I don’t often like harem series, and this didn’t seem interesting at all, but I’ll try to watch at least one or two more episodes before I make up my mind completely. WASSHOI!

Kannagi … yet another must-see. See it and laugh or ignore it and regret. Kannagi is truly hilarious at moments and yet funny at others. I can’t even give you a summary, you will have to see this yourself!

Shikabane. Shikabane Hime. Shikabane Hime: Aka. I still don’t know what the Aka is for, but we’ll probably (not) get an explanation for that later. Shikabane Hime: Aka is, I think, a typical Gainax production: great, interesting, amazing and to weird and complicated for even Stephen Hawking to understand. Just as it’s supposed to be. Shikabane Hime: Aka, as well as Tales of the Abyss, Toradora!, Hyakko and Kannagi, is definitely a show that I’m going to follow to the end. Way to go, Gainax!

That’s all I’ve got for you today, but please check back during the coming week and weekend as I will be writing more as soon as possible; however, there won’t be any anime reviews until next weekend as I can’t watch any until then. Have a good end of the weekend and don’t let the upcoming week be a letdown as well – watch lots of anime and stay in school!

I’ve changed my mind …

Instead of just trying out the few series that seems okay this seasons I am going to watch at least episode 1 of every show and then decide which ones I am going to continue watching and also give you a short review for all of them (not long ones like those with Hyakko, Toradora! and Casshern Sins … I think … I hope). The ones I have watched with the previous weekend is Casshern Sins, Toradora! and Hyakko and Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka is still waiting and now when I’m back for yet another weekend I have so far downloaded (although they are not all finished) Kannagi, Kuroshitsuji, Kyou no Go no Ni (TV), Shikabane Hime: Aka, Tales of the Abyss (the one I started last week was still at 0.0% downloaded), Macademi WAsshoi (man, that was a quick download – less than a minute without forced start), Ga-Rei -Zero- (also a fast download) and I’m still not finished. :)

EDIT: Now I have downloaded/started downloading To Aru Majutsu no Index (right after I originally finished this post) and Yozakura Quartet. That’s all I could find. The rest, I guess, still have to go TV in Japan first or be distributed for download (yay, illegalness is what makes a sentence great). See you next time when I’m gonna review more of this season’s new anime!

P.S. After this weekend I won’t be able to watch anime until the weekend after the coming one, because then I’m going to visit my older brother and next week Bleach is finally off it’s long filler arc (unless it’s a skip week or something, I’m not watching until the fillers are over). Oh my, now many downloads are getting finished – time for anime marathon!

I’m falling for this Fall 2008!

Can you believe it? A total of 41 new anime shows starting this fall! That’s seriously too much, NOBODY will be able to watch all of them! And that is a shame because of the ones I’ve seen yet and what my friends tell me they are almost all of them great! I wish I could just stop time for a few days every week so I could watch them all, but I’m busy as it is and not even a time-stopper could help me now. It’s so sad, so much great things going to waste (in my case) … Anyway, what I was going to write in this post was just a list of the new series of this fall in case you can’t keep track on it yourself (but hey, don’t try to watch them all – you’ll croak). I will also give reviews on the new shows that I watch as I did with Casshern Sins, Toradora! and Hyakko, so expect this weekend to a spam-like one! I hope not. Anyway, this is (as I’ve said before) way too much to start watching it all, but I’ll check out at least a few more of them and I will of course leave a few words for each of them. Until then, don’t start more than you can handle! :)

Toradora! – Episode 1

This is the second of four new anime shows I picked up today, all of them new this autumn. Unlike the artwork and story of Casshern Sins (read previous entry) I really loved all about this show! Toradora! has great art (that also resembles the art of one of my other favorite shows, Katekyo Hitman REBORN!) and, even though the ending suggests it is a developing harem story which I usually don’t like (To LOVEる has it’s moments though), has a great story so far and will hopefully stick to it. Right?

Anyway, unlike Casshern Sins (unless you’re a huge fan of bug-eyed robot-men in white tights no matter the story or progress), Toradora! is a complete must-see, and if you don’t you will probably end up regretting it all your life. So do yourself a favor, and at least check it out! I hope you, as well as I did, will like love it. :)

Summary and idiotic comments.

So, the anime starts with two cute birds (unlike the parrot we’ll meet later …) on an electrical wire (right?). It’s a cute scene until they get shocked and fall, grilled, to the ground.

And as if it weren’t enough he has awesome blue hair, he has the hottest mom ever as well. I wonder if the fact that she’s your mother would ruin seeing even her naked after a shower or by whatever twist of fate …

No, it wouldn’t. She’s not only the hottest mom ever, but she is also the cutest mom ever. GAH!! That’s unfairness for you (one of the reasons I usually hate harem anime).

Otaku love for the win, yeah. Exactly. To be honest, harem anime is unfair to real life (I just can’t stress that enough). No wonder otakus develops into sociopath hikikomoris that only waste their time watching lolicon hentai and porn … Ah, who cares, we only have one life to ruin socially, right? (Stay away from harem anime at least one week every two months and you should be alright. I pray.)
Enough joking (although it lies some truth in it), it’s time for you guys who haven’t already to watch Toradora! episode 1 NOW! Okay? Do we have a deal? No we don’t! Just watch it, alright?

…. I’m tired.

P.S. I’m also gonna try and watch Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka and Hyakko before next day comes, but I won’t write anything about them (meaning I will). See you! ^^

Casshern Sins – Episode 1

So, this is one of this fall’s new anime shows, I see. Casshern Sins …

The artwork of Casshern Sins is very annoying, those eyes bug me. Really. Although, as I understand this is a third version of the Casshern anime and if you look at one of the earlier versions’ artwork it really isn’t that bad. I mean, this new one is like a bug-manrobot who just really loves to show off his contours and shape. I mean, it’s 2008 – soon 2009 – and who wears tights in this day and age?! Sure, the story may not be set in 2008, but if it is in our world it is probably not in the past seeing as our world isn’t destroyed and I highly doubt that tights will come back as a fashion or whatever anytime in the future we’ve got ahead of us. But what do I know, maybe it will? It just isn’t a time I would want to think about, so let’s skip ahead. The story is quite dark and boring as it begins (the title of the first episode is “The End of the World” and isn’t that positive?) and it doesn’t really get much better. It’s just a guy, supposedly a robot, in white and tight tights with a Code Geass-inspired red C on his chest (could it stand for Casshern? Could it stand for this production probably won’t make any Cash? Or Could it even stand for C.C or Code Geass? Who knows, except maybe Casshern himself – wait no, he has forgotten everything, I remember) performing acrobatic acts and ripping out the intestinal wires out of robots seeking to devour him. Mm, I’m getting hungry; how about you?

I really thought this was a boring show, but I’m probably going to watch it at least one or two more weeks. Who knows, maybe the story will kick off soon? I hope so, took me several hours to get through just this first episode and I wouldn’t it to be like that the following weekends as well. ^^
Okay then, enough complaining (oooh, this is my first “this was crap“-review of an anime) and time for some picture storytelling!
