This is 夜風記 【よかぜのしるし】!

That’s rights! Yokaze’s Place 夜風の所, which was never a great name, has now acquired a new title: 「夜風記」. It is pronounced as 「よかぜのしるし」 (not 「よかぜき」), or “yokaze no shirushi,” and literally means “Yokaze’s Narrative,” or “Yokaze’s Chronicle.” The plan was to quit using the wordpress.com service and start using the wordpress.org service instead (the difference is that wordpress.com is restricted and uploaded with “.wordpress.com” after whatever you choose to use for your blog’s domain while wordpress.org is less restricted and free as long as you get your web hotel and domain at another front), but there seems to be some problem with connecting to my MySQL database and I did like this for the moment, changing the title and content slightly on this current blog and making a simple redirect from the new domain “yokazeblog.com.” Anyway, this works fine, right? The problem with my database will probably fix itself soon, and otherwise I’ll just contact my web hotel and have them fix whatever the problem actually is and soon I will be able to use more plugins and have much more freedom as a blogger. If you notice the word “Yokaze’s Blog,” 「夜風の所」 or both anywhere on this blog except when written in an older post, please contact me so I can fix this, and if you see it somewhere else at the web, please notify them that the blog has changed title, thank you.

What do you think of my new header? Yes, I love Kannagi. :D

Also, as I said in my previous post, I will be going to Uppsala here in Sweden for my first ever convention UppCon:09 (click here for a translated version) and I won’t be back until Sunday evening. Since I won’t be bringing my new laptop (it is still too new, I can’t take that risk – yes, I’m a worrier about some things) and therefore you won’t be getting any news from me during this weekend and I probably won’t post anything at all until I get home to Stockholm, but this may vary. I gotta get up in less than–three hours? OMFG, I gotta go to bed!!–so see you Sunday, everyone! I don’t have a camera, so I promise I won’t bring lots of pictures back from the convention, but pictures will be available at konventsbilder.se (click here for a translated version) during the whole weekend. ^^;

Fall 2008 anime schedule

This is mostly for my own reference so I know which of the fall 2008 series I am going to watch to the end simultaneously as I watch some of the new winter 2009 season shows, but you are free to view it as well. After deciding to watch all the 40+ shows that started airing during late 2008, I had to go and couldn’t watch anime for several months and, of course, watching all of the shows was no longer an option, but now I hope I have made my final fall 2008 anime schedule. OK, that was quite a few still, but I guess it’s a lot easier to keep up with than these and 30 shows more. I did not include Kannagi since I have already finished it and Vampire Knight isn’t a 2008 fall season anime, even though I have to watch it before I can watch Vampire Knight Guilty. Several of the others shows I have watched one or two episodes of before I dropped it, but those aren’t listed here because they aren’t shows I am going to watch. Hope all of these are great!

It’s finally here!

As mentioned earlier, I placed an import order on beNippon.com for some Japanese products, and guess what a woman working at the post office delivered to my door? That’s right (unless you just said something else than the obvious answer), the package with my imports! I wonder if she brought the package right home since we live in the same apartment building and she noticed the package was addressed to someone at her address, because we have never gotten any deliveries delivered right to our door before. Anyway, since I have no digital camera of my own, I had to take all pictures of package and its insides, so prepare yourself for some low-quality pictures. I hope you can at least see what the pictures are of. Why are there so many watermarks? Well, I wanted the watermarks to be at the same location on all the pictures so I spent (or should I say wasted?) a long time trying to find a free online service that would let me do so since Photoshop wouldn’t and the service I finally ended up using had to ruin the picture even more. Well, try to enjoy the pictures anyway!

The package, touched by none except a few thousand people.

I was really psyched and ecstatic when I received the package at the door and I almost started dancing. (Hey, you there, wait… GIVE ME THAT CAMERA!!) I have also ordered something else from beNippon.com that I hope will come soon, and I hope the happiness when that package arrives won’t be any lesser than what I experience today.

Import manga worth 8705¥

Before I wrote the two latest posts earlier today, I looked around beNippon for manga and stuff, and after a long while of adding and removing almost all of their manga sortiment to/from the shop cart, I came to a total of 8705¥, about $100 or 80€, shipping and payment method fee included. The cost for the things I bought alone came to 4180¥, the shipping fee at 4150¥ and payment method fee at 375¥. Do you care? Probably not, but I wanted to fill out this post with some text before coming to the interesting (maybe?) part. What I bought wasn’t figures or anything like that, but imported manga, as the title says. I purchased volumes one, two, and three of the original, Japanese version Kannagi manga, a Katekyou Hitman REBORN! official character guide, and two One Piece data books: One Piece YELLOW: Grand Elements and One Piece BLUE: Grand Data File.

A list of what I bought, but I will not give you my full name and address. Is that okay?

Everything I bought is in their original Japanese versions, but I only think there are Japanese items on beNippon. My friend over at Akaa has bought stuff and got them from beNippon several times and says it’s safe, so I assume it is. Man, I wish I had purchased more stuff… But I gotta have some money left to buy christmas presents which I frankly should’ve gotten already.

Bad health puts Kannagi on hiatus

Due to the author’s bad health, Eri Takenashi’s manga Kannagi is put on hiatus until further notice. I have been so busy that I have not been able to catch up to this series yet, so it doesn’t affect me in a bad way as my situation is right now, but for all those hardcore fans that eagerly awaits the new chapters every month will have a hard time for a while to come. I’m so sorry I won’t be sharing your depression, but good luck with it!

Monthly Comic REX announces that Kannagi will be put on hiatus.

Anime Fall 2008 – Part 1

Well, techincally, maybe this shouldn’t be called part 1 seeing as I have already made reviews of Casshern Sins, Toradora!, Hyakko, Linebarrels of Iron and Chäos;HEAd; but it is the first part of my series of “new anime season fall 2008″ entries. I will with these make several, shorter reviews of the new series this season without lots of screenshots and unneccessary talk; however, a few screenshots will be added. I think.
I’ll be using a rating system of five possible stars as I always do. If the star is in-between parenthesis () it means that I’m not completely sure whether to give it, for example, three or four stars; it can also mean I want to possibly give it one more as the story progresses or that I think the series maybe doesn’t deserve that last in-parenthesis star.

Tales of the Abyss, yet another game-inspired anime – that isn’t crap. I have only seen two episodes so far (the third will have to wait for next weekend) but I can tell you already that it is going to be worthwhile watching it to the end. Unless they figure out some way to successfully ruin it and make it a fiasco, but can any man do that? I hope not. Tale of the Abyss, although I haven’t played the actual game, as a relative to my absolute favorite game through all the ages, Tales of Symphonia, was not in any way going to get by me without me having a look-see first, and now, after I’ve seen the anime, I won’t rest until I’ve played the game also! Now, where can I get my hands on the game? Is it to Playstation 2? Gah, too much to find out! :D

What can I say? It’s definitely not what I had thought when I downloaded it … It’s a chibi harem series, for crying out loud! I was hoping for a magic-school kind of anime (not a Negima! kind), but instead I got stuck with this? It was okay and it had it’s hilarious moments, but this is probably not a show I’m going to continue watching. As I’ve already told you before I don’t often like harem series, and this didn’t seem interesting at all, but I’ll try to watch at least one or two more episodes before I make up my mind completely. WASSHOI!

Kannagi … yet another must-see. See it and laugh or ignore it and regret. Kannagi is truly hilarious at moments and yet funny at others. I can’t even give you a summary, you will have to see this yourself!

Shikabane. Shikabane Hime. Shikabane Hime: Aka. I still don’t know what the Aka is for, but we’ll probably (not) get an explanation for that later. Shikabane Hime: Aka is, I think, a typical Gainax production: great, interesting, amazing and to weird and complicated for even Stephen Hawking to understand. Just as it’s supposed to be. Shikabane Hime: Aka, as well as Tales of the Abyss, Toradora!, Hyakko and Kannagi, is definitely a show that I’m going to follow to the end. Way to go, Gainax!

I’ve changed my mind …

Instead of just trying out the few series that seems okay this seasons I am going to watch at least episode 1 of every show and then decide which ones I am going to continue watching and also give you a short review for all of them (not long ones like those with Hyakko, Toradora! and Casshern Sins … I think … I hope). The ones I have watched with the previous weekend is Casshern Sins, Toradora! and Hyakko and Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka is still waiting and now when I’m back for yet another weekend I have so far downloaded (although they are not all finished) Kannagi, Kuroshitsuji, Kyou no Go no Ni (TV), Shikabane Hime: Aka, Tales of the Abyss (the one I started last week was still at 0.0% downloaded), Macademi WAsshoi (man, that was a quick download – less than a minute without forced start), Ga-Rei -Zero- (also a fast download) and I’m still not finished. :)

EDIT: Now I have downloaded/started downloading To Aru Majutsu no Index (right after I originally finished this post) and Yozakura Quartet. That’s all I could find. The rest, I guess, still have to go TV in Japan first or be distributed for download (yay, illegalness is what makes a sentence great). See you next time when I’m gonna review more of this season’s new anime!

P.S. After this weekend I won’t be able to watch anime until the weekend after the coming one, because then I’m going to visit my older brother and next week Bleach is finally off it’s long filler arc (unless it’s a skip week or something, I’m not watching until the fillers are over). Oh my, now many downloads are getting finished – time for anime marathon!

I’m falling for this Fall 2008!

Can you believe it? A total of 41 new anime shows starting this fall! That’s seriously too much, NOBODY will be able to watch all of them! And that is a shame because of the ones I’ve seen yet and what my friends tell me they are almost all of them great! I wish I could just stop time for a few days every week so I could watch them all, but I’m busy as it is and not even a time-stopper could help me now. It’s so sad, so much great things going to waste (in my case) … Anyway, what I was going to write in this post was just a list of the new series of this fall in case you can’t keep track on it yourself (but hey, don’t try to watch them all – you’ll croak). I will also give reviews on the new shows that I watch as I did with Casshern Sins, Toradora! and Hyakko, so expect this weekend to a spam-like one!
