Hyakko – Complete

7 01 2009

Thirteen episodes later and I’m finished with Hyakko, one of the most hilarious shows I have ever watched. As always I’m not much of a reviewer, but I’ve got some pictures that won’t spoil the ending for you, just for fun and to fill out this post, and my words of gratitude and recommendation. If you have missed Hyakko during the previous anime season and think it’s too late, then you’re wrong – no matter how many years passes you simply have to see Hyakko. I guarantee you, you will laugh your asses off!

Why aren't these in the anime more often?

Why aren't these two in the anime more often?

Fall 2008 anime schedule

6 01 2009

This is mostly for my own reference so I know which of the fall 2008 series I am going to watch to the end simultaneously as I watch some of the new winter 2009 season shows, but you are free to view it as well. After deciding to watch all the 40+ shows that started airing during late 2008, I had to go and couldn’t watch anime for several months and, of course, watching all of the shows was no longer an option, but now I hope I have made my final fall 2008 anime schedule. Sorry for bothering you with this, dear readers. ^^;

Casshern Sins
Ongoing

Ga-Rei -Zero-
12 episodes

Hyakko
13 episodes

Kurogane no Linebarrels
Ongoing

Kyou no Go no Ni (2008)
13 episodes

Shikabane Hime: Aka
13 episodes

Shugo Chara!! Doki—
Ongoing

Tales of the Abyss
26 episodes

To Aru Majutsu no Index
24 episodes

Toradora!
25 episodes

Tytania
Ongoing

Vampire Knight Guilty
13 episodes

Yozakura Quartet
12 episodes

OK, that was quite a few still, but I guess it’s a lot easier to keep up with than these and 30 shows more. I did not include Kannagi since I have already finished it and Vampire Knight isn’t a 2008 fall season anime, even though I have to watch it before I can watch Vampire Knight Guilty. Several of the others shows I have watched one or two episodes of before I dropped it, but those aren’t listed here because they aren’t shows I am going to watch. Hope all of these are great!

Anime Fall 2008 – Part 1

12 10 2008

Well, techincally, maybe this shouldn’t be called part 1 seeing as I have already made reviews of Casshern Sins, Toradora!, Hyakko, Linebarrels of Iron and Chäos;HEAd; but it is the first part of my series of “new anime season fall 2008” entries. I will with these make several, shorter reviews of the new series this season without lots of screenshots and unneccessary talk; however, a few screenshots will be added. I think.
I’ll be using a rating system of five possible stars as I always do. If the star is in-between parenthesis () it means that I’m not completely sure whether to give it, for example, three or four stars; it can also mean I want to possibly give it one more as the story progresses or that I think the series maybe doesn’t deserve that last in-parenthesis star.

Tales of the Abyss, yet another game-inspired anime – that isn’t crap. I have only seen two episodes so far (the third will have to wait for next weekend) but I can tell you already that it is going to be worthwhile watching it to the end. Unless they figure out some way to successfully ruin it and make it a fiasco, but can any man do that? I hope not. Tale of the Abyss, although I haven’t played the actual game, as a relative to my absolute favorite game through all the ages, Tales of Symphonia, was not in any way going to get by me without me having a look-see first, and now, after I’ve seen the anime, I won’t rest until I’ve played the game also! Now, where can I get my hands on the game? Is it to Playstation 2? Gah, too much to find out! :D

Rating: ()

What can I say? It’s definitely not what I had thought when I downloaded it … It’s a chibi harem series, for crying out loud! I was hoping for a magic-school kind of anime (not a Negima! kind), but instead I got stuck with this? It was okay and it had it’s hilarious moments, but this is probably not a show I’m going to continue watching. As I’ve already told you before I don’t often like harem series, and this didn’t seem interesting at all, but I’ll try to watch at least one or two more episodes before I make up my mind completely. WASSHOI!

Rating: ()

Kannagi … yet another must-see. See it and laugh or ignore it and regret. Kannagi is truly hilarious at moments and yet funny at others. I can’t even give you a summary, you will have to see this yourself!

Rating:

Shikabane. Shikabane Hime. Shikabane Hime: Aka. I still don’t know what the Aka is for, but we’ll probably (not) get an explanation for that later. Shikabane Hime: Aka is, I think, a typical Gainax production: great, interesting, amazing and to weird and complicated for even Stephen Hawking to understand. Just as it’s supposed to be. Shikabane Hime: Aka, as well as Tales of the Abyss, Toradora!, Hyakko and Kannagi, is definitely a show that I’m going to follow to the end. Way to go, Gainax!

Rating:

That’s all I’ve got for you today, but please check back during the coming week and weekend as I will be writing more as soon as possible; however, there won’t be any anime reviews until next weekend as I can’t watch any until then. Have a good end of the weekend and don’t let the upcoming week be a letdown as well – watch lots of anime and stay in school!

Linebarrels of Iron – Episode 1

5 10 2008

Yet another new show of the 2008 fall anime season, Kurogane no Linebarrels, or Linebarrels of Iron, is a typical but original new mecha. It has in common with most other mecha anime that the main character has several personalities and is original in the way that he’s spoiler.
Since I couldn’t find a good torrent I had to watch one with crappy low quality online … at a streaming site (the name of which I probably shouldn’t mention as I don’t support streaming sites). I feel so bad! Anyway, as the fact just mentioned remains I did not take any good pictures and finally decided not to upload any at all. I’m sorry, but if you decide to watch the show you’ll see how it looks on your own. Right? Now for some unnecessary spoilers, so turn around and walk away if you haven’t already seen the first episode of Linebarrels of Iron:

  1. After jumping boring crap, the first interesting thing happens when … what was his name? Anyway, our main character got bullied and went to buy some curry bread. He cut through the forest so he would make it back in ten minutes, but in the middle of the forest he got hit by a car huge mecha and died(?).
  2. After dying(?) he wakes up on a hot, naked woman in a crater; he sees her lying there naked and decides he “have to be a man” and quickly strips down.
  3. Chara (let’s call the main character Chara since I don’t remember his actual name) brings the woman home and lets her borrow his sister’s clothes.
  4. After and explosion in the city drives the two to leave the house and hurry towards the location the terrorists’ at, they meet the crybaby-tough guy, Chara’s old childhood friend. The newly met guy is strong, he holds up a row of houses on his back and sacrifices himself so the other two can run away. Chara doesn’t like this and, as he screams, put his fist through the row of houses and they all explode.
  5. The woman puts Chara’s hand at hear chest and immediately he’s reborn. A huge 3D animated mecha appears and he jumps a few kilometres up in the air and lands on the cockpit shuttle.
  6. With his new ultimate weapon he jumps around a bit, destroying the town, and then the shocking truth is told: “you’re dead.”

Hmm. Yeah, this was interesting … Did the huge mecha falling on his head kill him, or did he die by blood-loss after waking up on top of a naked woman? Or maybe some poison went into him when he touched her boob? Answers to all these question can be found in the next episode, maybe. Look forward to it!

EDIT: Just so you know, I am not calling Linebarrels a bad anime, I’m just being a little mean while summarizing it for you. Sorry for that … Anyway, there probably won’t be any more entries today and tomorrow morning I live again for another week, so unless I get a computer during the week we won’t see eachother until next weekend. And one more thing, I am not going to make a review-post like this for every episode I see of a show, but I do it now for these new shows that just started airing this season, and then maybe I’ll make one or two posts reviewing the past week anime-wise each week, or something. Anyhow, see you next time! *waves*

The end of the destruction.

5 10 2008

Another show that has ended now as the new anime season of Fall 2008 is, based on the game with the same name, World Destruction. Every time an anime show that I’m watching ends I get sad, mostly because the endings are often sad. But at least we get a whole load of new shows, a list of which can be found in the previous entry. After three months of great entertainment I think World Destruction deserves a memorial, especially with that awesome then wonderful ending of theirs, so here it is: a Memorial for the Destruction of the World!

OBS! If you haven’t already seen World Destruction, see it and view the memorial afterwards!

A Memorial for the Destruction of the World!

Kyrie is the real Destruct Code!

I’ll kiss you if you spare the world, Destruct Code-san.

Please …?

Naww, just look at this scene! <3

Farewell, World Destruction. (Live happily together!)

I’m falling for this Fall 2008!

5 10 2008

Can you believe it? A total of 41 new anime shows starting this fall! That’s seriously too much, NOBODY will be able to watch all of them! And that is a shame because of the ones I’ve seen yet and what my friends tell me they are almost all of them great! I wish I could just stop time for a few days every week so I could watch them all, but I’m busy as it is and not even a time-stopper could help me now. It’s so sad, so much great things going to waste (in my case) … Anyway, what I was going to write in this post was just a list of the new series of this fall in case you can’t keep track on it yourself (but hey, don’t try to watch them all – you’ll croak). I will also give reviews on the new shows that I watch as I did with Casshern Sins, Toradora! and Hyakko, so expect this weekend to a spam-like one! I’ll write them first in order of starting-date and then by their first letters. Click on the titles for more information on the show on it’s repsective Wikipedia page or on the [ANN] for their respective Anime News Network encyclopedia page.
